MTE by Vans - reliable footwear for cold, rain and terrain
The Vans MTE (Made for the Elements) range is designed to handle rain, cold and harsh conditions without losing the typical Vans style. The sneaker combines MTE™ Weather-Resist water repellent treatment, a warmer inner lining to maintain comfort and UltraCush™ cushioning to provide a soft footfall even during all-day wear. Rugged construction complemented by an All-Trac™ rubber outsole ensures a reliable grip on wet and uneven surfaces.
MTE models are the ideal choice for autumn, winter and spring - perfect for the city, commuting, weekend trips and anyone who wants a durable sneaker with a lifestyle look. A great fit for those who need a versatile shoe that can handle the weather and everyday outfits.
Outfit tips: They look great with cargo pants and a flannel, with jeans and a warm jacket, as well as with outdoor pants and a sweatshirt. For a clean urban look, choose neutral toned outfit combinations where MTE shoes stand out nicely.
Materials
Textile: is a lightweight material, which is offered in a very wide color scale and is mainly used for summer footwear.
Synthetics: The material of the upper includes a wide range of man-made fibres and laminates that are designed to overcome the limits of natural materials. The main advantages are low weight, high strength and fast drying ability. Modern synthetic materials are often developed with an emphasis on breathability and resistance to external influences such as moisture or mechanical damage. Thanks to their technological variability, they allow the production of specific textures and structures that provide the foot with the necessary support and flexibility while maintaining easy maintenance.
Rubber: It is one of the most widely used materials for the production of soles due to its high mechanical resistance and durability. The main advantage of rubber soles is their excellent grip (traction) on different types of surfaces, which minimises the risk of slipping. The material is naturally flexible, waterproof and effectively absorbs shocks during walking. Depending on the compound, the rubber can be either soft for better contact with the ground or hard for maximum abrasion resistance on rough terrain.

The history of Vans sneakers is fascinating and full of interesting twists and turns. Vans was founded in 1966 as The Van Doren Rubber Company when Paul Van Doren and his partners opened the first shoe store in Anaheim, California. Vans boots were not designed for skateboarders, but for everyday customers who could choose from a variety of colors and designs. However, they soon became popular with local surfers and skaters who appreciated their comfort, durability and waffle sole that gave them better grip on the boards.
The first model Vans launched was the Authentic, which became an icon of skate culture. Ten years later came the Era, designed by famed skateboarder Tony Alva. These shoes had a padded collar and an improved sole for better stability. Other classic models were the Old Skool with the typical white stripe on the side, the Sk8-Hi with a high ankle section and the Slip-on with a simple laceless design. These shoes became part of subcultures such as punk, hardcore, grunge and others.
Vans emerged from financial difficulties during the 1980s and began to expand into other areas such as snowboarding, BMX, motocross and music. Vans also collaborated with various artists, musicians, athletes and brands on limited edition shoes. Today, Vans shoes are popular among people of different styles, interests and generations. Vans maintains its original spirit and is always looking for new ways to reach out to its fans.
